In honor of International Earth Day, the SEFI Special Interest Group on Sustainability invites the engineering education community to convene and explore the theme of “Educating for Sustainability: Beyond Knowledge and Technology.” Researchers, practitioners, and accreditation representatives will gather to explore the latest research on how socio-emotional competencies — including collaboration, empathy, resilience, adaptability, and flexibility — can redefine engineering education. They’ll share strategies for integrating sustainability into curricula and reimagine how we can prepare the next generation of engineers for a sustainable future.

On April 28, join Cindy Anderson, Engineering for One Planet (EOP) Co-founder and Strategy Consultant with The Lemelson Foundation to learn about the free, online EOP teaching resources — co-created and vetted by engineers, experts, and teaching faculty — that are bridging the gap in sustainability education for future engineers. You’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of the EOP initiative and the ways this growing community is working to support systemic change in engineering education so that every graduating engineer will be equipped with the skills, knowledge, mindsets, and experiences to protect and improve our planet and the life it sustains.

EOP Faculty Development Workshop
Participants of this workshop will gain hands-on experience applying the EOP Framework, foundational sustainability knowledge tailored for engineering, peer collaboration and idea exchange with faculty nationwide, and a new syllabus and learning tools aligned with EOP principles.
