At a virtual convening of the EOP Network in February 2023, faculty members from four higher education institutions shared their experiences implementing the EOP Framework at their respective schools.

Welker infused sustainability concepts throughout the curriculum at her prior institution of Villanova, and has taken those lessons learned to a different type of educational setting at her current school of The College of New Jersey.

11:03 – Ali Mohammadi, University of Michigan-Dearborn – Assistant Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering
One of the first ASEE EOP Mini-Grant cohorts, Mohammadi incorporated sustainability into a mobile robotics course through a project-based learning approach, designing a last-mile delivery mobile robotic system with the elements of energy-efficiency, eco-friendliness, and socio-economic sustainability.

22:13 – Marjan Eggermont, University of Calgary – Professor and Associate Dean of Sustainability, Schulich School of Engineering
Eggermont used the EOP Framework to design a new transdisciplinary degree program on sustainable systems engineering at her institution.

36:10 – Jorge Loyo, Rice University – Associate Director of the Nanotechnology Enabled Water Treatment (NEWT) Engineering Research Center
Loyo ASEE used the Framework to help emphasize systems thinking by redesigning a project-based class centered on sustainable water purification in low-resource countries.
